GUE cave

Hi,

Is it possible when you already have a cave certificate from IANTD to do the continuation course Cave 2 By GUE ?
Maybe the differences between the two courses is to big ??

Regards

Danny

I've been told that there is no crossover from other agencies to GUE quals/courses. I enquired as I wondered if it was possible to do the TDI Entry Trimix course, followed by DIR-F and then crossover to Tech 1.

There is no problem doing DIRF- Tech1 thats normal progression. The problem is TDI Entry level Mix straight into Tech2 I don't think they will let you do that.

TDI Entry level trimix is supposed to be a higher level of training than Tech1 because its only possible after decompression procedures and advanced nitrox. As a result its two stage deco with a limit of 60m. Tech1 is single decompression gas only.

Talk to your GUE cave instructor, it's been done before but you have to be very skilled to do it and pass the course. If you have no DIR cave diving experience I wouldn't count on it.i

Cheers

I would say it's not really an option because the foundation of all GUE cave training is done in the Cave 1 class. The Cave 2 expands on that by introducing complex navigation, stages and deco and refining what's been taught in Cave 1. The Cave 3 then further expands on that by introducing multiple scooters, extended range and exploration techniques.

So even if your skills are top-notch it could be difficult to jump right into the Cave 2 because you still don't know the GUE procedures for cave and there is no time in a Cave 2 class to go through things like that.

So in general it can't be done but if you are an accomplished cave diver there are provisions for that in the GUE curriculum, in which case you should contact GUE HQ for more information.

My buddy did that very thing successfully with David Rhea, but he was discouraged from doing so and told if after the first day of class he didn't show the necessary skills, class was over with no refund. No pressure there, eh? :p

So.... you have to be pretty sure of yourself if you want to try and can talk someone into letting you try.
