What undersuit for Florida?

Hi All,

I was wondering what undersuits you guys use when visiting florida. Last year i used my knackered weezle, which was warm enough but falling apart. I'm assuming that I'll boil myself in the 400g so any suggestions?

Thanks
J

I used a set of xerotherm artics, but to be honest you'd probably be fine in a 100gsm thinsulate type. My shagged old DUI 250gm is probably about that now..... I'd let you borrow it, but you'd probably need to beat it with a baseball bat before it'd even tolerate washing.

It depends on how long you will be in the water. If you are planning on extended deco-- and especially if you are doing many dives every day-- you might want to consider the 400g. Given that you'll be able to get several dives a day, I wouldn't recommend anything less than 200g. With your schedule (assuming you are coming down for the ITC), it would be wise to have a range of choices, especially since chances are that your suit will leak at some point.

Yeah I'm there for the IE and a few cave dives if I can fit them in I guess we will be spending 5 or 6 hours in the water on training days, so maybe I'll just bring my 400g and see what I can beg/borrow out there if I need to.

thanks

When I visited in November last year I wore my 400g. I was warm before the dives but not overly so, and in the water it was just fine

Frase.

John,

(As you may remember) last year I used my 400g - which was fine...well except the day I had to use the 3mm wetsuit....
I wouldn't bother to buy another suit specifically for the purpose. In water the 400g was great warmth-wise was fine and the buoyancy should help offset the stupidly heavy American cylinders. It was a little hot on land in the middle of the day when walking to the water, but certainly not that much of an issue.

Hey John,
I normally wear a 200gr under with a thicker T-shirt on top. Is fine for local springs and multiple dives/day. A 400gr suit is too warm in the day and even a tad warm in the springs.

Good luck on the training.

I did my cave in July and in fact I did it in 7mm wetsuit. Stayed in the water for 4- 6 hours and it was OK. So 200 mg should be perfect, I think.
BTW are you going to rent the cottage I wrote about?
