CDC Lot Update

Sent via email by Lynne Vine
---------------------------

Hi everyone,

I expect most of you know Jiri and I have parted company, I just want to reassure you all that we are continuing, we still have the filling station and the only difference is that at the moment there is no shop or rental equipement, but am in the process of re-organising these.

The other change will be in the accommodation, we are no longer using the chalets. You will now stay in houses with a degree of luxury and more comfort, the houses all have large ground floor rooms for you to hang your suits and store your gear. Breakfast will be in your house and dinners will be here as usual.

The other accommodation option is in mobile homes on the campsite next door, these will be 24 euros per person per night incl heating, they have 2 bedrooms and are ok for 2 or 3. The houses will be 30 euros each per night incl heating.

We also hope to be running courses from the centre next year.

I am sure you will continue to give me the support you always have done over the last few years and look forward to seeing you all in the near future.

Cheers

Lynne

Bugger, i hearded it to. I was there at may and i was able to rent gear (fly&dive) and had planned to byu some stuff (friends are there in one week time)(also great thing was they had lot of spares). I hope there could be a full cave diving shop at area (Lynn propably will set up something), car rental idea was good also.

Since my planned trip there is at next may, can somebody who visits place send some more info at situtation (about gear rental, gas and spares)

I sort of had a plan of leaving 3 sets of 18's and batteries with Lynne if agreeable; which would make the logistics of a trip a lot simpler i.e fly & dive!

Maybe we could all chip for them and use them as community kit, to be used by anyone visiting the area?!?!

Just a thought

Actually Lynne suggested that to me also, that it would be possible to leave some kit there. My problem is i cave other places to then Lot so i need my stages and batteries. But its not a bad idea, also have a look the thing EE is doing, renting lockers and etc for divers

Just got back from a super hot week of cave diving.

Can confirm that most all the rental gear is gone. Just one set of double 12l's sitting there. It sounds like they are working towards building the kit locker back up again. As we had some long talks about gear before we departed.

I would not worry too much a about the lack of gear. I think it will only be a short term issue.

Cheers!!

Kevin

Lynne's response

Hi

That would not be a problem, in fact an excellent idea. We can use the workshop at the back of the house for storage and it is quite safe as we have the only key. We will be getting some rental stuff eventually but for your team it makes more sense to store some here for you all to use. We can do airport collection no problem and rental vans from Renaults in Gourdon are not too expensive or there is also a place in Brive. Flights to Limogne, Rodez and Bergerac are cheapest and next year there will be a new airport between Souillac and Brive, about 35 mins from here.

Regards
Lynne

First mail to Lynne

Lynne,

What are your thoughts on storing equipment (within reason) i.e tanks, batteries to enable us to fly & dive in the absence of a rental outlet?

I'm thinking along the lines of a DIR UK team storage, 18's, AL80's and batteries to be used by any of us whilst over there?

Cheers

Rick

Hi Rick,

Seems like there are a few options:

1. Do nothing. This would mean that we have to drive down until there is sufficient rental equipment to fly.

2. We (a defined group) split the cost of some equipment, leave it down there, and it is used only by the individuals in that group.

3. We (a defined group) split the cost of some equipment. This can be used by anyone in return for a donation which would be used to maintain the equipment.

I can't work out whether three would be significantly better than two, and whether Lynne would allow three. So I'm leaning towards two. Or a different better option?

Anyway, as you know, I'd contribute to the equipment.

All the best for the New Year mate,
Owen

Equipment

Hi Owen FWIW ..Iam thinking along the lines of Leaving a Set of 18s a spare battery pack for PRO14 and weights next time I go in the spring leaving them with either Lynne at CDC or Martin and Simon in Cajarc .......with a view to flying down in the next couple of years ..
However one set of 18s aint going to go far So we could do with pooling some equipment

Need to know whom is interested really ..

A
