![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | WKPP: Wakulla, June 9 Exploration I've posted Casey's exploration report for the work at Wakulla on the weekend of June 10: http://www.gue.com/Projects/WKPP/Upd...06-june10.html Once again (and perhaps for the last time this summer) the team came together to pull off an amazing dive under less-than-ideal conditions. The objective for the weekend was to try to push the new Q-tunnel lead to the north (towards the direction of the "downtown" Turner tunnel). The temperature had kicked into overdrive, the park was as crowded as I've ever seen it, and the visibility was half of what it had been a few weeks earlier. Another day, another 2000' of line 15,000' back in the cave; although the cave didn't cooperate with the direction of the tunnel, the team is functioning so well that these amazing results are starting to feel commonplace. To go along with the update, there's a new gallery of images from the weekend, including frame grabs from the mini-mee camera of the exploration. http://www.gue.com/Galleries/Wakulla/061006/index.html -anthony |

| New Member | Thanks Anthony. Is there an up-to-date map of Wakulla anywhere on the site that includes all the tunnel names etc? Its quite hard figuring out what the team are talking about in terms of location if you dont have a basic idea of the layout of the system. Cheers Rob. |

We've recently posted two maps that might help give you an idea of what's what: http://www.gue.com/Galleries/Wakulla...ation_7_06.jpg http://www.gue.com/Galleries/Wakulla...ion02_7_06.jpg (They are on the project update page, under the Turner section) best, Anthony |

| New Member | Those maps really put into perspective the potential connections between the systems Antony. Now all you need to do is find a new entrance midway between them and you won't have to do such long dives ![]()

Truth be told, we've been working with the state and private landowners to try to identify any open karst windows for quite a while now; we've had team members making "mudskipper" dives in any wet sink we could find between the two. Unfortunately, all have been <2 meter deep mudholes with no going tunnel.![]() |

| Doing It Caverkevin | How about starting up a fund to to pay for a boring operation. Drive a 2 meter diameter hole into the ground. It would be like diving Eagle's Nest!! Maybe digging out a wetland or two. I remember Berman's stories about digging and sucking all the mud out of Little Devils. Maybe there is a tunnel in some of those mud holes. Just needs to be cleaned out.Cheers!! Kevin |
