Passed NAUI cave 1

Hey guys!

I passed my NAUI cave 1 this week! NAUI's new program is a bit more liberal than nss-cds/nacd (3rds of doubles, 2 jumps, no stages, deco or scooters). Kind of like an apprentice cave diver.

I took the class with Scott Maclean (excellent instructor). We did our dives at Little River and Devil's Ear, with previous dives at Peacock. I'll spare you the typical write up, but it was a great class and I really learned alot.

I'm always up do go diving in Florida, so if your looking for a buddy to do some dives, shoot my a PM.

Also, Aug31-Jul4 (I'm shooting for then, but I can do it later) I'm going to take cave 1 with JJ in High springs. Let me know if your interested.

Any particular reason for you taking NAUI Cave 1 then GUE Cave 1, 4 months later?

A comparison of the 2 courses would be a good report to file later on also.

Thanks

My regular dive buddies were taking the NAUI cave (they are not fundies qualified, and have no real desire to do the DIR thing), and rather than be a training step behind them and miss out of good diving experiences, I decided to take the course.

I want to take GUE later because I know it will offer excellent information and help be become a better diver. I've taken NAUI NTEC (similar to fundies), and I got more out of fundies. NAUITEC is still in its infancy.

I believe the cave 2 curriculum is still being written/revised/debated by NAUI higher ups.

NTEC is simply NAUI Technical Eqipment Configuration and by itself is normally a non diving thing. Intro to Tech includes NTEC and diving and is more like a Fundies but directed to aspiring Tech divers, not recreational diving. NAUI Tec has been around longer than GUE,but the new programs with NTEC (Hog) and higher standards are only coming up on two years.

Cave 2 is written and in standards, no debate by NAUI Higher ups.

Smile Course contens

Is the course contens available on the net? How extensive is the NAUI cave1 (compared to GUE cave1)? What are the major differenses?

Is it possible to do the course extended over a couple of weekends?

Im arriving at pensacola on tuesday next week and will be at the Eglin AFB for 6 months on a course and therefore it's only possible to go to HS at the weekends

PfcA when im done with the course i can go cave dive with you :-)
