GUE Membership

GUE is a not-for-profit organisation which supports diver education, training, research and conservation. The not-for-profit status of GUE is often forgotten although Jarrod happily quips that it is very successful in that particular aim

GUE relies heavily on the support of its membership to help realize its goal of promoting a new level of excellence in diver training, underwater exploration and conservation. Though GUE has always welcomed the assistance of dedicated volunteers, economic realities are such that it is only with the financial support of our members that they may be able to continue this work.

There is no requirement at all to join GUE to participate in it's training programme. Indeed, many who train with the agency are unaware of it's wider work and the fact that they may choose to join and support it.

The registration fee that each of you pay to GUE when you do a course is a contribution to the cost of running records for students, printing cards, run the website and employing staff to help out with querries. It does not however cover the bills and those who are closely involved comare it to owning a very large boat - able to swallow up any cash which comes in reach.

Choosing to support the agency in it's work will assist GUE in developing programmes, maintain an influence on diver education and training, support conservation and exploration projects and educate those who threaten our environment through development or land use.

Membership is available on several levels dependant on how much any individual can afford or is prepared to give. The agency has tried to find appropriate reward for joining, from membership of Quest online to invitations to conferences. However, the main reward is knowing that you are helping support the work which is done by GUE worldwide.

What kind of research and conservation has GUE spent money on?
When a platinum member buddy of mine asked the same question some time ago, the answer was new HID lights.

cheers

And as someone who has ordered and paid for the new HID lights, I do appreciate that!

You said it ... so I think we can assume that GUE don't have HID lights.
