| Cave addict | Dir-X baton in France Saturday morning in France, warm and sunny, JP and I were geared up for our dive when a white van stopped close to the water as Clare Gladhill, John Gronan and Simon Murray were to join us at Doux de Coly that day. After a brief introduction and the promise to talk a little further after our dive, JP and I entered the water. A beating sun, sweaty drysuits and heavy gear do not form the best conditions for a long conversationJ. For me, I found it still surprising that Clare and I finally go to meet. Although we have been emailing about cave diving, Mexico and other topics - and although we have been at the same dive sites for a few times already, for one reason or another we just never met. During lunch there was plenty of time to chitchat. I received the dir-X baton to take it with me on our dive. As JP had planned a photo-dive this was a perfect opportunity to show the baton to all dir-X members. As for the baton’s next trip: I will hand it over to Roel, who is going to take it to Croatia in August. Until then it will stay in Belgium and The Netherlands, awaiting for someone to take it along on a dive…… A-M |
