| GUE Instructor Site Admin | Email Something which is of great concern to me has come to my attention. As most of you know, I use a parliamentary email address (as listed on here) for all of my correspondence - apart from PMs on here and YD. I have no other email addresses. If any of you have recieved an email from a hotmail or gmail account - which suggests that it is from me please forward to me immediately. It appears that someone is having fun sending email out in my name. I have no idea why they are doing this but it has to be stopped.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | An interesting problem you have there Clare. You are not the only Clare Gledhill, nor Gledders for that matter. Can you prove that these emails are purporting to be from YOU? If so then you probably have a good case to complain to the email provider - quite how you go about this I have no idea. It is not exactly cybersquatting, but you could try emailing the relevant abuse@ email address if one exists. Do you have examples? Adrian |

![]() ![]() | get secured! Hi Sending e-mail in the name of another person is so easy that it scares! That's why you should consider a e-mail certificate, which you only have, and can proove your identity. check this out: http://www.thawte.com/ For e-mail only, it's free! I use it since 1 year ago, and it's great. Simple and secure! |

Hi Clare,As most of you know, I use a parliamentary email address (as listed on here) for all of my correspondence - apart from PMs on here and YD. I have no other email addresses. If any of you have recieved an email from a hotmail or gmail account - which suggests that it is from me please forward to me immediately. It appears that someone is having fun sending email out in my name. I have no idea why they are doing this but it has to be stopped. I just wanted to say not to worry about this too much. This happens All The Time, and there really is nothing you can do to stop it. I can send out all the email I want and say I am anyone. The good part is that although it is extremely annoying, it is rarely damaging, since someone who knows what to look for can prove/disprove that an email came from you. I see this all the time from people who are outraged to discover that this goes on. Who knows, there could be thousands of emails out there with Jason Hess on them, and I would never know it. I try to relate it to the postal system: I could walk to the post office right now and send out hundreds of letters to people, and I could write your name in the return address field. The post office will still deliver them, cause they don't know that they didn't come from Clare Gledders. The receiver will see your name and might think it came from you, but on closer inspection someone would see that it was mailed from New Mexico, and since you are far from here they must not really be from you. Try not to take it too hard. Jason |
