We kicked off this board with a few posts from Alastair whilst Fraser and I went to Florida.... never thought it would take off like this

We hit 999 members today - and we have a rather special guest taking the 1,000th slot. Welcome JJ - there may be one or two familiar names here - but many others that we hope you will come to know.

To celebrate JJ joining us, Halcyon are launching a competition with DIRX which should nicely sum up the global nature of this board. A quick look at the member's map shows that we have active members in each continent, diving ice, reef, wrecks, caves, mines and even nature from time to time

Proof if any were needed that DIR diving is one system for all types of diving.

So send us your photos, of your diving - surface, underwater, in cave, wherever... pictures which capture the diversity and adaptability of DIR would be great - as would others which just show divers having fun (keep it clean

)

You may already have an image which illustrates yoru diving - you may wish to take a camera around with you over the next month or so and let us see what you have been doing.

We'll judge the winner somehow - and they will get Halcyon goodies for their trouble. Good pictures may also make their way into the Halcyon catalogue so if you feel like being a pin-up now's your chance.

Woo Hoo, well done Clare in sorting out this board and being a sound promoter of DIR - I don't think I have dived with someone who doesn't know you!

Wrt the competition, Looks like the camera will definitely be coming out on 12th, 20/21st and 30th for some nice shots, just hope the weather and viz are good.

As the photos could potentially be going into the Halcyon catalogue, does that mean they have to be of Halcyon products

Can I also confirm that the copyright of the photo will remain with the photographer but that the rights to use them to advertise Halcyon and DIRx have been given? Just means that if someone uses the photo outside of this context, then the photographer has some comeback if it is used elsewhere.

I'll have to dig out the camera and start pimping myself a bit. I quite fancy getting a bit of fame. I feel like i need to practice loads though as i don't want all of you seeing pictures of me when i'm being a but numpty.

Seriously, congrats to everyone who has participated in building the DIR Explorers community. Halcyon is pleased to be able to help celebrate your growth. Ken and I were just talking about what sort of special prize we can hide away for the winner.
