I think that you need to top up your batteries once a month if not diving.

This is the one I'm talking about PS-1229 Powersonic 12V 2.9AH Battery

so not sure what you mean there.
Maybe it's a different battery.

Mine DOES have a plastic piece glued onto the battery into which the prongs on the lid fit (does that make sense?). Essentially this is just a guide to ensure the polarity of the battery is correct, and that the battery doesn't rattle around in the canister. I was going to fashion my own from a piece of wood (or maybe just not bother - I'll just have to be careful plugging it in!)
