What are the pros and cons of a fixed beam (Proteus 3) versus a focusable. I'm a cheapskate and the fixed beam seems appealing as we will need 2.

Also does anyone know if the new Proteus 3 (delrin lid) has a better battery connection system than that used in the old transparent lid version? Is it black and red wires or the solid plug connection system used on the Explorer lights?
