Many NAS projects are much shallower than this, so the sophiticated survey technique becomes "less" of a problem, relatively.
NAS certainly don't "have enough funding and time available for it not to matter", and I'm sure they'd be interested in how the survey is going.
I think it might be worth asking if this could be considered under the "adopt a wreck" program.
