| I personally mounted my knife to the inside part of the handle, under the palm. Up here we're all diving drygloves, so the issue i saw about mounting it to hte top was getting at it with my gloved hands. What i did was drill the handle, and put in a bolt to keep the knife on, like normal. Then i took the adjustable portion of the handle off, and slid a thin o-ring on it. This o-ring slid down and went over the knife nad handle, so it holds the knife in place.
I've used it underwater before (it was the easiest thing, and i wanted to try it), so i just pushed on the knife and snapped the o-ring. The knife then swung out easily and i pulled out the knife. Then on the surface, i just put another o-ring on it.
The o-ring between the handle and knife might work ok, but the knife has a funny way of working itself out of hte sheath, so it might not help too much with just an o-ring sandwiched in there.
A thing to remember, it is a backup knife, it wont be used on a regular basis, thats what the knife on the belt is for.
Just my thoughts..
