FYI insurance companies don't believe that diving is a significant risk if you're diving in UK open water in the 0m-25m range
Last time I spoke to an insurance company they admitted that the 30m 'limit' was there as a result of the training agencies, not as a result of
actuarial studies. It was a bit of a bizzare conversation:
me - so you don't care that I'm going into a cave?
Insurers - so long as its above 30m & you are diving with an instructor.
me - ok, my wife is an instructor, but not for caves, is that ok?
insurers - so long as she is an instructor, that's fine.
me - I'm also an instructor, does that mean my wife is ok?
insurers - if she is diving with you, then that's ok.
me - so just to confirm, if my wife & I are diving together, its above 30m then we are covered, despite it being in a cave & neither of us are cave instructors?
insurers - yes, it's no problem
