Wrecks of Scapa

The vast majority of divers end up diving the wrecks of the flow for obvious reasons, but there are quite a lot of wrecks outside that are seldom visited. As the flow is silting up, the main attractions can be less attractive!
Here is a link to some wrecks outside the flow.

Apart from the Hampshire, I haven't dived outside the flow. I guess for the King Edward, it would depend entirely on local conditions on the day - the weather can change quite rapidly.

Here is a link to a website that shows the current state of the wrecks within the flow (from sonar images)

There are three primary deep wrecsks around Orkney; HMS Hampshire (68m), HMS King Edward VII (105m) and HMS Pheasant (85m). Here is a link to a site that talks about all 3.

You can find another list of deeper wrecks here

So, in short, there is plenty to do if you want to dive outside the flow, but we are far more dependant on weather conditions to explore these!

John.
