I have never tried a dui, so can not tell (was a student when I got the suit, dui was outside my budget).
The original boots are pretty wide, and above about shoe size 40 they won't fit into normal scubapro jetfins. Turtles do work though, and I use jetfin look-a-likes, which also work.
Have never sent the suit back for repair, but would probably prefer taking it to a local diveshop with dry suit-adapting facilities.
