I agree, no need to waste money on the tool unless you're a techie servicing loads of the things.

Once you've opened it up for the first time, you can do it up hand tight and it'll be easy the next time.

My wife has a little square of rubbery sheet she keeps in the kitchen for opening jars* and I find one of those is perfect for the job.

* at least that's what she tells me it's for, maybe it's a dental dam
