Ok I have your attention.

I am considering doing the Tech 1 course because I enjoy my diving. This raises my question though...

If I do a 45 metre dive how long on the bottom gives what sort of deco?

This is because if am going to spend excessive amounts of time mid-water in relation to the bottom time I might not bother, and just continue to hone my skills up to 30 metres.

I don't require massive detail just some examples.
The Tech1 class will teach you an additional set of skills to take you to the next level in your diving. There is no reason to do dives which require longer deco obligation if you don't want to. You can do 100' Tech1 level dives just outside the minumum deco limits if you want, it just extends your diving a bit. Besides, they like you to keep your deco obligation relatively short...20-30 minutes since the limits of the class are only one deco gas.

As far as a 45 meter (150') dive goes (and if you are using Ratio Deco), if you spend 30 minutes, it'll give you 30 minutes of deco. My recommendation would be to find a GUE instructor and quiz him/her with your questions to find out if the timing is right for you to take the class.

Good luck,
