| Very sad news ... Elphinstone can be hell ...
The first time I dove it in 2001, we almost got killed with my buddy. Waves were 2 m high and we were stupid enough, not only to dive, but we were also not cautious enough and got washed on the reef.
One sailor came to pick us up in the Zodiac, the Zodiac was flipped upside down, was washed on the reef and he got almost killed too.
We were like in a washing machine and out of pure despair, we were able to flip the zodiac back, grasp the sailor and drift back to the boat which had at that point also to pick up the other divers.
While we were in that hell, the only thing that counted, was to stick together and help the other one out. We did not realize that it was so bad.
Once back on the boat, we saw the huge waves breaking on the reef, my buddy, the sailor and I wept like babies.
I need to thank the crew and the captain that did everything they could to bring us safe and sound. They did not want us to dive that day and we should have listened to the expert egyptian sailors, instead of listening to the french divemaster. |
