Whilst the reg is in your mouth:
with the right hand (from above the hose) trap the hose and boltsnap body between the index and middle fingers (lie mimicking a pair of scissors)
this leaves the thumb free to manipulate the catch
then slide the head of the boltsnap
UP the right shoulder webbing until it hits metal, when the D-ring is hooked let go of the catch
Hard to explain without visuals, hope that at least helps a bit.......?
I really don't think there is a 'standard method' I find this works consistently for me.
