George has written something about it in the past, but it was pretty vague and open for interpretation.
I doubt if you will find any detailed info about it here because it is considered a very specialized option that is avoided as much as possible unless absolutely necessary.
I also rarely find a situation where it would be really necessary...
We have some caves here in Belgium that can't be entered in backmount and can only be dived in side-mount or no-mount, but then I ask myself... "do I WANT to dive there???"
the passages are so small and silty that the way back is per definition in zero viz...
So usually the answer is "NO"...
My reason for experimenting with it is logistics for exploring shallow caves with multiple sumps and rather long dry passages in between... |
